It’s the most wonderful time of the year. In Korea, Christmas is a day for friends and family as well as a time for consuming entertainment be it Television or music.

Here, we have chosen our favourite 25 songs released from the world of K-pop ranging from first generation bands to songs released as recently as 2024.

Miracles in December – EXO

One of the joys of Christmas music in K-pop is often the experimentation from artists looking to experiment and show off a new side of their musical abilities.

This process can be traced back to 2013 when SM Town artists EXO released their first Christmas album ‘Miracles in December’. A groundbreaking album, the song features several classic Christmas songs, and its impact led to the popularisation of Christmas music as we know it in K-pop.

Featuring one of K-pop’s most recognisable piano instrumentals, the album is known for its title song, “Miracles in December”. The song is arguably one of the group’s most impressive and important songs after receiving major mainstream success for releasing songs “Growl” and “Wolf“.

“Miracles in December” shows the emotional and vulnerable side of the EXO members and is a prime example of K-pop ballads, which have even become a personal favourite to show friends.

“Miracles in December” is a song that can easily be listened to all year on repeat and is an absolute for all Christmas playlists.
