It’s the most wonderful time of the year. In Korea, Christmas is a day for friends and family as well as a time for consuming entertainment be it Television or music.

Here, we have chosen our favourite 25 songs released from the world of K-pop ranging from first generation bands to songs released as recently as 2024.

Red Velvet & Aespa – Beautiful Christmas

2024 has been a difficult year for SM Entertainment, with stock issues and a newfound investment in the group’s younger groups. Aespa has once again been the shining light for SM Entertainment, acting as the company and K-pop’s premiere girl group.

In today’s advent calendar, we will be diving back to 2022 when the girls collaborated with fellow SM Entertainment girl group Red Velvet with their song “Beautiful Christmas“.

A very energetic and upbeat song, the song is a perfect example of Christmas energy and perfectly matches the energy of both Aespa and Red Velvet, being very reminiscent of Red Velvet’s early music, which is perfect for those fans of Red Velvet’s new music.

Given the girl’s growth since this song, it’s a shame listening back just how one-dimensional and cheery the song is; with the new direction and sound of K-pop Christmas songs, a new collaboration between these girls would be even better and play to both groups’ strengths. But with incredible vocals and harmonisations between both groups, “Beautiful Christmas” is yet another great example of the wonders of collaboration.
