F(x) – Wish List

We have covered some incredible Christmas albums as part of this advent calendar. Today, we cover yet another iconic album coming from the artists of SM Town as we feature F(x)‘s “Wish List” from the single collective ‘Winter Garden’.
Featuring three tracks from three of SM’s biggest K-pop acts, the collective album was created to bring together three of the company’s biggest female talent at the time in F(X), Red Velvet and BoA, with each act also representing a different period of music.
Known for its experimental and genre boundary style, “Wish List” would be easy to confuse for a regular song if not for the infusion of sleigh bells. The Christmas aspects of the song, alongside its lyrics, are really an enjoyable break from the other Christmas songs from this era of K-pop.
Listening to this song in 2024, you cannot help but draw comparisons between “Wish List” and other K-pop songs, most notably Red Velvet’s “Russian Roulette“. The song is another example of F(X)’s instrumental success in K-pop.
