K-pop Advent Calendar Day 6

It’s the most wonderful time of the year. In Korea, Christmas is a day for friends and family as well as a time for consuming entertainment be it Television or music.

Here, we have chosen our favourite 25 songs released from the world of K-pop ranging from first generation bands to songs released as recently as 2024.

WEi – Gift For You

As we approach the first weekend of December, today, we bring you an energetic and joyful festive song to get you through your Friday and to the weekend.
Released in 2022, boygroup WEi released their song “Gift for you” a romance song dedicated to their fans who make their Christmas special the song features sentimental and heartfelt lyrics with youthful and joyful energy.
Starting out, the song takes a typical sound before we are hit again with the traditional Christmas beat change, and we are treated to a more energetic sound than you would expect from a young K-pop group.
Primarily a vocal group, the song features a lot less rap than the previous entries in this list and really benefits from this with it feeling more traditional and their lyrics coming across more the chaotic nature of the boys and repetition of ‘DUDUDU’ in the chorus bring a natural smile to your face.
However, it is also important to note the amount of mastering and enhancement of the members’ voices; the usage feels like it takes something away from the song, which does an incredible job at relating themselves to their fans and listeners by masking their natural voices.
Overall, if you are looking for a joyful song to add to your Christmas playlist and groove, this is the perfect song for you.
