It’s the most wonderful time of the year. In Korea, Christmas is a day for friends and family as well as a time for consuming entertainment be it Television or music.

Here, we have chosen our favourite 25 songs released from the world of K-pop ranging from first generation bands to songs released as recently as 2024.

Chungha – Sleigh 

Given all of the whirlwind of events that have taken place in Korea over the last 24 hours at one point, it seemed questionable whether or not to continue with today’s advent calendar. However, thanks to the resolve of the Korean people and justice prevailing, it’s only right we continue with our advent calendar and allow the magic of Christmas to take over and heal us through the aftermath.

Released on December 3, it was a shame that the song was released just after Day 3 of the advent calendar. But now, a day later, here it is, arguably the biggest Christmas song released of the year as it seems at long last, we are getting into the 2024 K-pop Christmas spirit.

Known for her incredible versatility in releasing both R&B style and K-pop classics, it feels only right that Chungha would experiment and expand from the traditional cookie-cutter K-pop Christmas songs, infusing a bit of R&B makes for a sound that I hope we will continue to hear in future K-pop Christmas songs.

Accompanied by the B-side single “There Goes Santa Claus“, the single has a bit of everything from traditional warm Christmas music with an incredibly catchy hook and chorus. “Sleigh” benefits from its incredible incorporation of the song’s rap, and songwriting perfectly matches the brilliant soft vocals of Chungha. This overall, makes for a brilliant release and definitely recommend both songs.
