It’s the most wonderful time of the year. In Korea, Christmas is a day for friends and family as well as a time for consuming entertainment be it Television or music.

Here, we have chosen our favourite 25 songs released from the world of K-pop ranging from first generation bands to songs released as recently as 2024.

B.I.G – Last Christmas

Many K-pop idols have released incredible covers and remakes over the years, whether it’s BTS covering Seo Taiji and boys “Nan Arayo” or NCT Dream’s “Candy“, idols aren’t shy to take previously released music and make their own.

Initially released by the English pop duo Wham! “Last Christmas” is one of the most iconic and recognisable Christmas songs ever released. The song acted as a major stepping stone for the pair, especially George Micheal, who would shortly after leave the band and embark on one of the most successful solo careers in British music history.

Released a decade ago, back in 2014, the then five-member B.I.G would release their own version of the song where they would add their own twist, translating and performing in Korean. 

Starting from the intro, we would get our first difference from the original song with a beat switch as B.I.G rapper Benji would add his own lyrics and introduction to the song before we would be treated with the all too familiar lyrics we know from the song by main singer Gunmin.

This would once again be followed by another rap verse from Benji, whose incredible rapping ability, paired with the group’s brilliant vocals, provides a perfect modern K-pop vibe to the song and can easily make one wonder what version is better.
