SECHSKIES – Sechskies Christmas

Entering day 1 of the Christmas advent calendar as we start our journey towards the most wonderful time of the year. We thought it would only be fitting to take everyone back to day 1 of Christmas music in K-pop, with the legends SECHSKIES and their 1997 song “Sechskies Christmas“.
Debuting earlier in 1997 with ‘School Byeolgok’, “Sechskies Christmas” is part of the band’s second album ‘Welcome To The Sechskies Land‘. The album itself is one of the group’s most successful albums, with the division into gates showcasing the first forms of album storytelling.
The first song of Gate 4, “Sechskies Christmas”, signifies a major change in the album, introducing a change in tempo. The gates can also be interpreted as the winter season, with Christmas representing the joy and change in the season.
Followed by songs “The taming of the Shrew” and “Winter Letter“, this whole gate could have made this advent calendar, with each song providing a funk and dance vibe similar to that found of Disney land’s and Neverland’s night parade and is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.
