18Fevers find new found meaning in “Nothing Helps” MV

2023 has been a busy year for 18Fevers after releasing two singles in 2022 and a reformation with the addition of a new member and legend of the Korean rock scene, Yu-Hee. It’s been a successful year for the young band.

Performing across various stages, the band have made their name known on the Korean independent scene, making friends and sharing stages with artists across Korea. They put pen to paper signing for the label Victim Records earlier this year, celebrating this achievement by releasing their debut EP, Death Punk Disco.

Two months have passed since the album’s release, with 18Fevers getting the opportunity to promote the album and a UK Tour. The band has seen great success, being covered by various publications. Videos from their performances can be found on Instagram and YouTube. Many outlets have heralded 18Fevers as Korea’s next emerging punk talent.

The EP’s third Music Video and second track on the album “Nothing Helps.” Sees the band reflect upon their success and time in the UK, saying on their official Social Media, ‘The video shows that music can be a way to move on and heal emotionally.’ Finding a new sense of meaning and solace amongst the heartbreak, the band show how the power of music and performance can be the perfect medicine for life’s trials and tribulations.

The use of concert footage from fan perspectives and their personal devices travelling through the UK further showcases this message, as the joy of the band and their connection with the crowd further emphasises the true power of music and friendship, as they would put it once again on Instagram, ‘The video is also a love letter to all our new friends we met on tour.’

The song sees the band take a different angle from their traditional punk vibe, unleashing and channelling their inner disco side; they perfectly merge the two genres. The song perfectly tells a story from start to finish and sees the best of vocalist, Christmas Kwon. The tempo changes see the best of the fellow member’s musical ability, with each shining on their individual instrument; the song is a well-produced total band effort.

“Nothing Helps” proves that whilst life is tough, and relationships come and go, we should all live in the moment and enjoy what we do best. Lucky for us, when it comes to 18 Fevers, that is making music and performing. As amazing musicians and performers, their concerts have brought people together, whilst their infectious music and energy are enough to forget your problems, healing both themselves and fans alike. It shows that there will always be brighter days, no matter the issue.
